HATTIESBURG — Jack Abraham threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead the Southern Mississippi football team to a 27-17 victory against UTSA on Saturday night.
Abraham had 269 yards passing for the Golden Eagles (3-3, 2-1 Conference USA). Trivenskey Mosley ran for 142 yards on 26 carries.
Parker Shaunfield capped the first Southern Miss drive with a 22-yard field goal, then booted a 29-yarder to give the Golden Eagles a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Steven Anderson ran for a score early in the second and Abraham hit Jordan Mitchell with a 6-yard scoring pass to go up 20-3 at halftime.
On the first drive of the second half, Abraham led his team 63 yards in five plays and took it in himself from two yards out to stretch it to 27-3 with 13 minutes, 31 seconds to go in the third. UTSA scored twice after that including an interception return by C.J. Levine.
Jordan Weeks threw for 117 yards and a touchdown for the Roadrunners (3-5, 2-2).

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 47, 2OT: At Itta Bena, Dejerric Bryant ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns, including the winner in double overtime, and Mississippi Valley State picked up its first season win, beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
MVSU trailed 47-41 in the second overtime period when Bryant ran 15 yards for a first down then dashed the remaining 10 yards for the winning touchdown.
The Delta Devils (1-5, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) trailed 27-13 in the fourth quarter before scoring 21-unanswered points to lead 34-27 with 1:31 left in regulation play.
Bryant was under pressure all day and was sacked twice. He finished with 117 passing yards for MVSU. Booker Chambers had 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Skyler Perry threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns for the Golden Lions (1-6, 0-3), including the scoring throw to DeJuan Miller that tied the game as time expired in regulation. Taeyler Porter ran for a career-high 173 yards two touchdowns.
n North Alabama 24, Jackson State 7: At Jackson, Christian Lopez threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 64 yards and another score to propel North Alabama to a victory over Jackson State on Saturday.
The Lions (5-3), one of three Football Championship Subdivision independent teams, built their lead behind a dominant defense and steady play from Lopez, who was 14-for-23. North Alabama allowed four first downs and 65 yards in building a big lead after three quarters.
Lopez scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and sandwiched a second-quarter 23-yard touchdown strike to Donzell Polite and a 42-yard touchdown toss to Cortez Hall around Chandler Carrera’s 23-yard field goal for the three-score advantage.
The Tigers (3-3) got on the scoreboard when Keshawn Harper ran it in from the 3-yard line with 10:53 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Lions piled up 365 yards of offense, while holding the Tigers to 163.
n Alcorn State 33, Grambling State 26: At Lorman, Noah Johnson found Chris Blair wide open in the end zone with 12 seconds left, helping Alcorn State beat Grambling State on Saturday in a rematch of the last three SWAC championships.
After the teams traded punts in the final five minutes, Grambling was called for interference on a fair catch and Alcorn State started its final drive at the Tigers’ 26-yard line with 1:42 to go. Alcorn State had a personal foul on second down, moving it back 15 yards, before Dayall Harris made a leaping grab at the 3 on third-and-20 to set up the winning score.
Johnson passed for 160 yards and two touchdowns for Alcorn State (6-2, 5-1). The Braves scored 23-straight points in a seven-minute span for a 23-13 halftime lead.
Geremy Hickbottom threw for 279 yards with one interception for Grambling
(3-4, 2-2).
