STARKVILLE — After opening the 2019 season with a three-game sweep of Youngstown State, the No. 9 Mississippi State baseball team will play host to Alabama-Birmingham at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dudy Noble Field.
Senior Peyton Plumlee will make his second appearance of the season for MSU. Plumlee threw two innings and allowed one run on one hit in the season opener. He struck out two.
Redshirt sophomore Graham Ashcraft is scheduled to start for UAB.
Sophomore Tanner Allen opened the season with a monster weekend and earned two national player of the week awards. He drove in 13 RBIs and owned a .538 on-base percentage in three games.
Ole Miss will play host to Arkansas State: At Oxford, the No. 13 Ole Miss baseball team will play host to Arkansas State at 5 p.m. Wednesday (SEC Network+) at Swayze Field.
Ole Miss opened its season with a series split against 2018 NCAA tournament qualifier and 2019 Horizon League favorite Wright State. Game 3 was rained out.
Thomas Dillard opened the season red-hot at the plate, hitting .833 over the opening weekend.
