CALHOUN CITY — The Immanuel Christian football team scored its most points in a game in four years Friday night in a 51-20 victory against Calhoun Academy.
It was Immanuel Christian”s highest-scoring output since beating Brooklane Christian 54-38 on Sept. 22, 2006.
Norris Harris rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns and Michael Tate rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns to lead Immanuel Christian (1-3).
Harris scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter and on a 69-yard run in the third quarter, while Tate scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter, on a 50-yard run in the second quarter, and on a 27-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Also for the Rams, Dustin White caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Ross Moore in the first quarter, and Josh Dantzler scored on a 54-yard run in the fourth quarter. Dantzler, Harris, and Moore ran for two-point conversions, and Joel Meek kicked three extra points.
Dantzler carried the ball four times for 86 yards.
Harris led the defense with nine tackles, Dantzler had seven tackles, and Jeremy Davidson had four tackles, a blocked punt, and blocked extra-point attempt.
n Victory Christian 49, Tabernacle Christian 14: At Gardendale, Ala., Marcus Sims threw three touchdown passes to lead the Eagles to their highest-scoring game of the season.
Sims connected with Landon Ellis for 31 yards in the second quarter and for 34 yards in the third quarter, and with Tyler Jones for 27 yards in the second quarter.
Ellis opened the scoring for Victory Christian (4-0) with a 46-yard run in the first, Kaleb Holliness returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, Jones scored on a 27-yard run in the second, and Ben Williams scored on a 4-yard run in the third quarter. Williams also scored on two two-point conversion runs.
Sims completed 5 of 8 passes with an interception for 123 yards, while Ellis had a team-high 99 yards rushing and 86 yards receiving.
Jones led the team with seven tackles, Williams and Jay Pace each had six tackles, and Holliness had five tackles and two interceptions.
n Nettleton 25, Caledonia 7: At Nettleton, the Confederates outscored Nettleton 7-0 in the second half after trailing 25-0 at the intermission.
Caledonia scored in the third quarter on a 2-yard run by Onterro Lowery and an extra point by Kevin Kugel.
n Philadelphia 34, West Lowndes 10: At Philadelphia, the Panthers had a two-game winning streak snapped to fall to 2-2.
West Lowndes took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter when Deion Ameis returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown and Antonio Wilson ran for the two-point conversion.
The Panthers scored their final points in the third quarter when they recorded a safety.
