Forte Prater had the biggest shot of the night for Starkville High School.
With 6.8 seconds remaining in overtime, Prater drilled the go-ahead 3-pointer that helped the Yellow Jackets past Center Hill at Rumble in the South in Madison, 75-74.
Prater was the game’s MVP with 18 points and seven assists. Jarmarvious Phillips contributed 15 points, while Coltie Young added 14 and Eric Green had 13 for Starkville (17-2).
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy took down Class 4A opponent North Pike 69-62.
Jared Long led the Patriots with 29 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. He was named the game’s MVP. Eli Acker also had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Steele Altmyer chipped in 10 points. Alijah Martin led North Pike with 39 points.
Heritage (16-7) is back in action today at home against Leake Academy.
