CLINTON — Caledonia High School”s Jessica Comer covered the Choctaw Trails 4-kilometer course in a time of 15 minutes, 55 seconds Saturday to win the Mississippi High School Activities Class 4A state cross country title.
Comer”s finish helped the Lady Confederates finish sixth with 188 points.
Alexis Pace (38th, 18:45), Jelisha Hackman (46th, 19:23), Avery Smith (57th, 20:00), and Megan Lester (68th, 20:56) rounded out Caledonia”s top five.
Zack Senneff finished 16th (18:11) to lead the boys to a fourth-place finish (180 points). Chris Warren (35th, 19:10), Houston Greggs (41st, 19:29), Josh Kugel (49th, 19:46), and Addison Warren (53rd, 19:51) also scored.
In Class 5A, Cindy Jennings (79th, 21:55) and Diane Pittman (80th, 22:01) paced the New Hope High girls to a 14th-place finish.
In Class 6A, Kamau Bostic (13th, 17:11) and Joseph MacGown (15th, 17:16) led the Starkville High boys to a sixth-place finish (176).
Walker Mattox (25th, 17:04) and Abigail Arinder (32nd, 17:19) led the Starkville High girls to an eighth-place finish.
Girls Basketball
Immanuel Christian 46, Hamilton 39: At Hamilton, Taylor Baudoin scored 19 points and had 19 rebounds Saturday night to lead Immanuel Christian past Hamilton.
Immanuel Christian”s junior varsity girls started the sweep with a 23-16 win.
Kaitlyn Shreiner added 14 points and six steals for the Immanuel Christian varsity (2-2).
For the junior varsity, Michelle Swaim led the Lady Rams (2-2) with eight points. She also had three steals and three assists. Megan Anthony grabbed five rebounds to go with her five points, and Haley Good had nine steals, five rebounds, and four points.
