It's not a Cinderella story until she wears the gown.

It's not a Cinderella story until she wears the gown.
The Cinderella Project of Lowndes County is comprised entirely of volunteers that are on a mission to make prom dreams come true for financially challenged students by giving gowns away for FREE.
The project is designed so that no teen is bound by financial circumstances. Dress drives for new or "gently enjoyed" formals, shoes, and accessories will be held throughout the remainder of the year until upcoming 2010 prom season.
Specific drop-off locations will be provided for all donations. Girls who are need of a gown will need to provide a current school id on "Boutique Day." "Boutique Day" will be the venue where girls can shop prior to their school's Prom. Gown recipients will receive all gowns and accessories FREE of CHARGE from the selection of donations.
Referrals from community members, guidance counselors, church members, and social service clubs will have a special pre-pass before the opening "Boutique Day" to select their gowns before the public.
About The Cinderella Project of Lowndes County
The project was dreamed into reality by founder Megan Brown, whose husband, Keith Brown, is an active duty staff sergeant stationed at Columbus AFB. As constantly relocating can often be disconnecting from the community that we live in, I wanted to make a difference.
Some form of The Cinderella Project is duplicated all over our country. After thorough research, no such program exists in the entire state. I wanted to enrich the lives of these teens and reward them for all of their hard work and discipline. Prom is a rite of passage for all girls. They deserve to have memories that, because of financial constraints, they might not have had otherwise.

How It Works:
Step 1
On the day of one of our Boutique Day events, grab your 2009 - 2010 high school ID and head to the location of the event. Check in at the door to receive a wristband with an appointment time on that same day.
Step 2
Come back to shop with a female guest (your BF, Mom, Grandma, cousin, whomever!). You will be required to check all bags, including purses in our secure Coat Check. At your scheduled appointment time, a Cinderella Project volunteer will guide you through our extensive dress selection. There will be hundreds of gowns in all sizes and styles, so you'll have plenty of beautiful options from which to choose!
Step 3
Once you've tried on and selected a dress, we will help you find a complimentary accessory- from purses to boas to sparkling tiaras from collected donations. Remember, all Cinderella Project gowns and jewelry is free.
Step 4
As you're waving goodbye with tiara and taffeta in tow, don't forget to grab a free goodie bag assembled by our sponsors.
Volunteers are needed year-round to collect dresses from our drop-off locations, assist with inventory control, help young women with dress selection at boutique days, establish relations with schools, social service agencies and teen organizations, volunteer with Grant writing and fundraising, and assist with establishing relations with donors and sponsors. Please contact Meg Brown for more information at (662) 549-9492.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Event sponsors will assist in our outreach efforts by supporting The Cinderella Project of Lowndes County at community events, trade shows, and our boutique days. Fairy God Mother sponsors will provide one lucky Cinderella with gift certificates to make her special evening complete. The Cinderella Project of Lowndes County provides the attire, but the Fairy God Mother helps provide tickets to event, flowers, salon appointments, and dinner. Monetary sponsors make financial contributions to assist with the storage, supplies such as mirrors, hangers, dress racks, and supplementary inventory. Professional service sponsors may donate their products and services as seamstresses, hair stylists, dry cleaners, florists, and retail stores for shoes and purses.
