DISPATCH STAFF REPORT
Columbus’ 17th annual Market Street Festival may be three months off, but preparations are well underway. The festival and the Columbus Arts Council are partnering again this year to offer the Juried Arts Competition and Exhibit. The contest and show will celebrate some of the best original paintings, drawings, photography and 3D work done by area artists.
The deadline for all juried arts entries is March 23, by 5 p.m. Artists may enter up to three works per medium for a $40 entry fee. Complete guidelines and applications can be found at marketstreetfestival.com.
Categories include painting/drawing, 3D and photography. A cash award of $500 will go to the entry selected by judges as Best of Show. First place in each of the three categories will receive $200; second place in each category will be awarded $100. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive $300.
Artwork in the Juried Arts Exhibition will be displayed at the Columbus Arts Council’s Rosenzweig Arts Center at 501 Main St. during the festival May 4-5 and through the month of May.
“Market Street Festival is Main Street Columbus’ largest fundraiser and is essential to our continued downtown revitalization effort,” said Amber Brislin, executive director of Main Street Columbus.
Applications for arts, crafts and food vendors are also available on the site. Entry forms for the festival’s car show and 5K run can be downloaded, too.
