Mississippi University for Women’s Center for Creative Learning will offer more than 40 non-credit courses as part of its community Life Enrichment Program for adults who share a love of learning and/or teaching.
In the spring, 35 courses will be offered at The W and four in both West Point and Amory. Classes will range from the study of Shakespearean plays to ballroom dancing.
Classes, which are Jan. 28 to March 7, meet once a week for one to two hours over a six-week period. They are held during the day, early evening and Saturday mornings.
Courses in the Life Enrichment Program are taught by volunteers from the community who are experts in their field. The fee for each term is $35, which allows participants to take up to five courses each term. Class sizes are limited by the space available.
Debbie Swartz, Life Enrichment Program coordinator, attributes the success of the program to dedicated volunteer instructors and community support.
She added, “The Life Enrichment Program has brought so many people to our beautiful campus. People who are new to Columbus or have lived here for a long time and have never experienced what The W has to offer, now have that opportunity.”
