Kathryn Elizabeth Ferguson of Columbus, a sophomore at the University of Mississippi, earned membership in Phi Eta Sigma national honor society based on her academic performance as a freshman. Requirements include a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 at the end of a student’s first year, provided they have carried a normal academic load toward a bachelor’s degree and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.
