Mercedes, 1, was photographed riding in style on her way to being dropped off at her nursery Thursday morning by her mother Latoya Shelton.
In the 21st Century every moment can be captured. That can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. The advent of the camera phone has created endless possibilities, with minimal bulk, to document our lives. What’s the last photo on your phone? What made you want to photograph that moment?
The last photo on my phone is a selfie. I’m a millennial, and I’m sorry. It wasn’t my fault. A group message of friends I made studying abroad in Argentina started buzzing my phone last weekend. A few inside jokes later, everyone was sending in a photo of themself from whatever part of the world we were in at that moment. I folded to the peer pressure and sent in my own. But it was the people I loved and cared about that made me take the photo and send it along.
What’s the last photo on your phone? Who did you take it for? Why?

Teri Martin has a Diet Coke every morning. Friday morning was no different, except she felt compelled to take a photo of the can. Coke’s current marketing campaign is “Share a Coke with (fill in name or title)”. Martin’s can Friday morning read, “Share a Coke with Dad.” Martin’s father passed away her senior year of high school, so that morning the can made her stop, think of him and snap the picture. She posted the photo on Facebook with the caption, “ I wish I could.” Photo by: Courtesy photo

Most of what we photograph revolves around whom we love, or what reminds us of those people. Steve Joiner took his last photo from a lodge outside of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He took a trip with his wife to meet his son and his future daughter-in-law. They went white water rafting, and got to know their son’s fiancé better. Photo by: Courtesy photo

Cliff Stafford did not take the last photo on his cell phone. His 3-year-old granddaughter, Mady, did. Mady took a photo of her sippy cup, which is pretty awesome. Stafford spends a lot of time with his grandchildren; they certainly are keeping him up-to-date with technology. Photo by: Courtesy photo
