‘Twas the time after Christmas and all through the house,
Everyone was exhausted including the mouse.
The stockings were emptied, the gifts were unwrapped,
And some time or other some people had napped.
Small and big children had hoped for some snow,
But dreams of White Christmas were gone long ago.
Strung tinsel was down, and so was the tree,
Except for some waiting for Epiphany.
Excitement had reigned, oohs and ahhs spoken;
Toys had been played with, some of them broken.
The feast was consumed, and all that remained
Became hash, soup or salad and pounds that were gained.
Travelers returned to where they were from,
And those who were gone, back home they had come.
Gifts were put up with minimum fret,
Thank you notes written — well, maybe not yet.
Because it was over, some people felt low,
But most of them basked in a post-Christmas glow.
The season is holy that brought us such cheer,
And we sat down and started to plan the next year;
And we say most sincerely that we really do mean
To wish you a blessed 2015.
