United Way of Clay County and North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point will partner to sponsor a Day of Caring Sept. 24. The United Way Campaign Kickoff Luncheon will be held the same day, following project work that morning.
“We had a great turnout for last year’s activities, and we want to invite volunteers to join in this community event,” said Stacy Hays with United Way of Clay County. “What better way to kick off our annual campaign than to give local residents the opportunity to see firsthand where their donations are going?”
Beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 24, volunteers will complete projects submitted by partner agencies, as well as other participating organizations. The luncheon will begin at noon at The Civic to conclude the day’s activities.
Organizations that are not United Way agencies are invited to submit requests for volunteer help.
To register to volunteer, contact Hays at 662-494-8089. T-shirts will be available prior to Sept. 24 for volunteers.
Agencies funded by United Way of Clay County are: American Red Cross, Area Agency on Aging, Boy Scouts, Clay County 4-H, Clay County Diabetes Assistance Fund, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Contact Helpline, Clay County Day Care, Girl Scouts, Clay County ARC, Recovery House, Safe Haven, Project Homestead Food Pantry, and Sally Kate Winters Family Services. Although not currently under the United Way umbrella, the West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter will also be a part of the Day of Caring.
