Main Street Macon presents a seminar on researching family history Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. The program featuring Sharon Leslie Morgan will take place at the Macon Welcome Center at 2904 Jefferson St., Macon.
Morgan is a longtime, long-distance member of the Noxubee County Historical Society. She will talk about her dedication to genealogical research, with a focus on family roots in Noxubee County. Morgan’s presentation includes an illustrated account of her personal journey along with insights on how genealogy can empower the future by healing wounds of the past.
The seminar will teach the basics of how to conduct family research, plus a Q&A for those who are facing research challenges.
Morgan has been researching her family roots in Noxubee for many years and is the founder of Our Black Ancestry (ourblackancestry.com), a website and social networking community. She is also the coauthor of “Gather at the Table: The Healing Journey of a Daughter of Slavery and a Son of the Slave Trade.” (Beacon Press, 2012).
