The film “OzLand,” written, directed and produced by Michael Williams of West Point, has been picked up for distribution by Indie Rights. The 2014 fantasy/sci-fi film stars Glenn Payne of Blue Springs and Zack Ratkovich, formerly of Columbus Air Force Base. Numerous area individuals contributed to its making, including Keatzi Gunmoney, who composed the score, and KK Norris of The Attic in Columbus, who worked on costuming.
“OzLand” will premiere in Hollywood, California, Oct. 16-22. Williams will attend to not only promote the film, but to represent the growing Mississippi film industry. Nationwide distribution on digital rental/purchase services begins Oct. 20, said Williams. The movie will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other video-on-demand services.

“OzLand,” which was shot in and around West Point and in Minneola, Kansas, has garnered 2015 film festival awards including Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography at the Magnolia Independent Film Festival; Best of Show, First Place Feature and the Director’s Award at the Tupelo Film Festival; Best Feature Film at the Real to Reel Film Festival; and Best Narrative Feature at the Offshoot Film Festival, among others.
