The students of the Mississippi University for Women Department of Music present a piano and chamber music recital titled “An Evening with the Classics” Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Connie Skills Kossen Auditorium of Poindexter Hall.
The program features piano masterworks by Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann and Haydn, and will be performed by piano students of Dr. Julia Mortyakova and Dr. Valentin Bogdan. Also featured will be chamber music duets written for piano, violin and voice, and two world premieres of works composed by MUW student composers Phebe Davis and Kevin Carroll, who are students of Bogdan.
“We are thrilled to present this event to the MUW and the Columbus community,” said Bogdan, MUW assistant professor of music. “The variety of this program will certainly appeal to our audience. It will also showcase the versatility and resourcefulness of our students, since many of them will appear in multiple settings — as composers, pianists and singers.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
