In honor of Mother Goose’s 30th year at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, the Friends of the Library has declared 2016 to be the “Year of the Goose” in tribute to Edwina Williams and her embodiment of the beloved character from children’s literature.
The Columbus Arts Council invites all artists to create artwork inspired by Mother Goose, reading or children’s books. These pieces will be displayed in the Rosenzweig Arts Center’s Artist Alley during the month of July. A portion of the proceeds from any sales will benefit the Mother Goose Endowment for Literacy and Advancement and the arts council.
“Mother Goose is a wonderful asset to our community, and the Columbus Arts Council would like to thank her for everything she does,” said Aislinn Noltie of the arts council.
Any artist may submit up to two works of art; two- and three-dimensional pieces are permitted. Two-dimensional pieces may be no larger than 3-by-3-feet. Three-dimensional art can be no larger than 3-by-3-by-3-feet.
Artists are asked to deliver artwork to the Rosenzweig Arts Center at 501 Main Street between June 25-30.
