“Urinetown” auditions — Starkville Community Theatre holds auditions for “Urinetown, The Musical” at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Playhouse on Main, 108 E. Main St., Starkville. Parts available for actors, singers, dancers of all ages. Prepare one minute of a song to sing a capella or with piano (bring sheet music; pianist provided. No recordings). Tennessee Williams Tribute — The 15th annual Tribute in Columbus includes an opening night gala Sept. 8 featuring music, food, silent auction and David Roby in “sometimes there’s God so quickly”; the play “Unseen Character” (Sept. 9-11); free acting workshops with Roby (Sept. 9-10); Stella Shouting Contest (Sept. 9); scholars’ talks and more. Peace Project kickoff — The Columbus Arts Council introduces “The Peace Project: a Season of Peace” 8-10 a.m. at the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market in Columbus. Paint peace rocks, make original “peace doves.” Mother Goose story at 9 a.m. Peace Project events throughout the season will include an open mic, writing project and a spoken word open mic. Hazard Lecture Series — This series marks its 25th anniversary with two free lectures exploring “The Voyage of the Mind.” On Sept. 12, Dr. Art Cox speaks on “Innovations in Medicine: Emerging Techniques in Facial Surgery.” On Sept. 19, Margaret Mary Henry speaks on “A Window on Russia: A Local Scholar Reports.” Both events are at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Academy Elementary Student Activity Building, 623 Willowbrook Road. The community is invited.

Regional Business After Hours — A Regional Business After Hours is 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Cadence Bank Plaza in Starkville, co-hosted by the Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, Greater Starkville Development Partnership and the West Point/Clay County Growth Alliance, open to all members.

“The Cemetery Club” — Starkville Community Theatre presents this dramatic comedy about three Jewish widows who visit their husbands’ graves monthly. When they meet a widower at the cemetery, new dynamics unfold. Shows are 7:30 p.m. (2 p.m. Sunday) at the Playhouse on Main, 108 E. Main, Starkville. Tickets are $15 adults; $10 students. Barefoot on the Bridge — Mississippi University for Women Passport to Wellness and Bliss Yoga celebrate the first day of autumn with yoga on the Old Highway 82 pedestrian bridge at the Columbus Riverwalk at 6 p.m. All levels welcome. Bring a towel and mat. First 20 receive a free yoga mat.

Possum Town Tales Storytelling Festival — The Columbus Arts Council’s fifth annual storytelling festival showcases internationally-acclaimed professional storyteller Donald Davis, “the Dean of Storytelling,” as well as Anna and Elizabeth, with their old-time scrolling pictures called “crankies,” and musical storyteller Grace Pettis.
