September is National Recovery Month and two residential treatment centers in Columbus are partnering for the first time to “bring recovery to light.” Recovery House and The Pines and Cady Hill Recovery Center join in presenting a free, family-friendly event called “Glo, Bring Recovery to Light” on Thursday, Sept. 29.
“Arrive at 7:30 p.m. at the Stennis Lock and Dam East Bank pavilion,” said Martha Allen of Community Counseling Services. “The Glo fun will begin at dark, or 8 pm. Wear your glo gear, bring a glo stick or show up to just see the Lock and Dam East Bank Pavilion off Wilkins Wise Road light up.”
Columbus is known for many great things, Allen noted. One that is sometimes overlooked due, in part, to stigma or lack of knowledge is that Columbus and the Golden Triangle area offers behavioral health care for individuals suffering with alcohol or drug addiction issues or with a mental health diagnosis.
“We are fortunate to have access to great behavioral health care through a variety of outlets and resources,” she said.
“National Recovery Month is an opportunity for Recovery House and the Pines and Cady Hill to raise awareness about recovery and the challenges faced by those seeking treatment and those impacted by recovery,” said Keenyn Wald, clinical coordinator for The Pines and Cady Hill Recovery Center.
