The first weekend of November will herald the kickoff of the holiday season in downtown Columbus as businesses host the annual Downtown Christmas Open House Friday through Sunday, Nov. 4-6.
“You’ll find yourself in a holiday spirit as you walk through historic downtown Columbus to begin your holiday gift buying,” said Main Street Columbus Executive Director Barbara Bigelow.
The open house is Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; select stores will be open Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Christmas Open House is an exciting and unique opportunity for downtown merchants to showcase their products, including food, clothing, hand-crafted furniture, gifts, jewelry, art and more, Bigelow said.
Shoppers will be able to admire festive store decorations and register for a Grand Door Prize comprised of gift certificates valued at more than $400 from participating stores.
“Who does not enjoy gift certificates at Christmas time or any time of the year?” asked Bigelow. “Each year, we anxiously await the arrival of the holiday season, a time to celebrate with our families, reminisce about the past and make new memories for the future. The holidays bring a special magic to the air, and the Christmas Open House is the first sign that the season has begun.”
More seasonal events
Bigelow noted that the open house will be followed by several additional events during the holiday season ahead. They include:
