The fourth annual fundraiser for The Last House on the Block will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Last House facility in Columbus. Two grand prizes in the draw-down are up for grabs — a Ruger American Rifle (choice of caliber) or a deer hunt at Hollis Farms.
Tickets for the drawing are $10 and may be purchased from any Last House board member, and by calling Bill Brigham, 662-386-7250; Kevin Styron, 662-549-2074; Floyd McIntyre, 662-574-9389; or House Manager Billy Jordan, 662-352-4516.
Established in 2012, the Last House is a sober-living home for men, whose mission statement is as follows: We provide hope for alcohol- and drug-dependent men who desire to reclaim their integrity and their place in society. In a drug-free, structured environment, residents will develop spiritual and moral principles which will assist them in becoming productive citizens.
“Without the generous support of this community and several local churches and clergy, the Last House would not be able to offer this service to these men,” said McIntyre, who has served on the board since 2012.
The Last House is not a treatment center. It operates on a home concept, where residents are assigned weekly chores, work in the community, attend 12-step meetings, church services on Sunday and morning devotionals.
“We are very grateful to the very generous individuals who help us to make this ministry possible,” McIntyre said.
