The Culinary Arts Institute at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus has announced dates for its summer Culinary Camp for Kids. Four sessions are being offered for students who will have completed the following grades by the end of May: June 5-9 for grades 2-3; June 12-16 for grades 4, 5, 6; June 19-23 for grades 4, 5, 6; and June 26-30 for grades 7-12.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the world of foods through demonstrations, lectures and hands-on work in the kitchen. Their sessions will begin with instruction in food safety, proper sanitation and kitchen safety. Each day, campers will produce recipes of the day that can easily be replicated at home. As the week progresses, they will gain practical skills in the correct use of appliances, healthy meal planning and etiquette. A graduation ceremony for family on the final day of camp will showcase what the camper has learned.
Cost per session is $250. Spaces are limited and fill quickly.
