Tuesday, June 19 


NACUSA recital -- Six composers from Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia will present new music at 7:30 p.m. at Mississippi University for Women's Poindexter Hall, a presentation of the Mid-South chapter of the National Association of Composers/USA.  




Thursday, June 21 


Sounds of Summer -- Big Hoss and The Little Joes entertain from 7-9 p.m. at the Columbus Riverwalk for Sounds of Summer. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for this free concert. No coolers or pets. Food and drink vendors on site. Presented by the Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Columbus. For information, call 662-328-6305.  


Downtown at Sundown -- Starkville's free summer concert series features music by Drew Dieckmann and Starkville Community Theatre from 7-9 p.m. at Fire Station Park. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Viva Las Elvis -- The Columbus Arts Council presents a Viva Las Elvis Party at 7 p.m. Dance to music by The Dips at 8 p.m., plus Elvis and Priscilla look-alike contests and hamburger plates (7-8:30 p.m., $10; purchase food tickets by Thursday) at the Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St. Members $15 advance/$17 at door; nonmembers $20 advance/$22 at door. Sunday, June 24 


Sunday Funday -- This mini arts and music fest from 1-6 p.m. at The Parthenon at 513 University Drive in Starkville also features children's activities.

Sounds of Summer -- Stormy Monday entertains from 7-9 p.m. at the Columbus Riverwalk in downtown Columbus. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. No coolers or pets. Concessions available for purchase. Friday Night Jams 


The West Point/Clay County Arts Council presents area musicians at Friday Night Jams at 7 p.m. at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts, 235 Commerce St., West Point. Free to the public. 






Farmers Markets -- Columbus Hitching Lot Farmers Market: Mondays 4-6 p.m.; Thursdays and Saturdays 7-10 a.m. Second Street and Second Avenue North. 


Starkville Community Market: Tuesdays 4-6 p.m.; Saturdays 7:30-10:30 a.m. Fire Station Park, Russell and Lampkin Streets.
