Exhibit reception -- The public is invited to a free reception from 5-8 p.m. for an exhibit of blind contour oil paintings by Emmie Sherertz of Columbus at the Columbus Arts Council's Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St.For more information, visit or call 662-328-2787. 


Friday Night Jams -- The West Point/Clay County Arts Council hosts live music with Friday Night Jams at 7 p.m. at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts, 235 Commerce St., West Point. Free to the public. 




Saturday, July 14 


Sizzling Second Saturday -- Special activities at Columbus' Hitching Lot Farmers Market between 7-10 a.m. include a visit from The W's Project CHEW food truck with healthy snacks for kids, water safety advice from the Army Corps of Engineers plus face painting. Kids can paint a ceramic piggy bank to keep. Saum Chiropractic will offer stress screenings for adults. Second Avenue and Second Street North. 


Substance Abuse Prevention Conference -- This 8 a.m.-4 p.m. conference featuring Tawana Williams, Victor DeNoble, Dr. Julius Kato, Dr. Angela Riley and Dr. Gaurav Dutta is free to the public, in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium at Mississippi State. Entertainment, prizes and more; insight into underage drinking, prescription and opioid abuse and addictions. Sponsored by Community Counseling Prevention Services. "Wizard of Oz" -- West Point/Clay County Arts Council presents this play at 7 p.m. at Center Stage Auditorium (Central School), West Point. Tickets $15; $10 children 3-17 and seniors at Petal Pushers, Growth Alliance and First United Methodist Church in West Point. Visit

Sunday Funday -- This mini arts and music fest from 1-6 p.m. at the Parthenon on Starkville's University Drive showcases area artisans and musicians. Visit
