Walk a Mile in Her Shoes — The W’s Counseling Center invites males from the communiy to don high heels and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, bringing awareness to the issue of sexual assault. The walk, rescheduled due to severe weather, begins at 5 p.m. in The W Room on campus.
Thursday, May 2
Day of Prayer observance — The community is invited to an observance of the National Day of Prayer at noon in front of the Lowndes County Courthouse, 505 Second Ave. N., Columbus. Seating available. Starkville Day of Prayer — A National Day of Prayer observance is 12:15-12:45 p.m. on the steps of First Presbyterian Church, 307 University Drive, Starkville. A light lunch provided by Sweet Pepper’s Deli will be served after the time of prayer.

Market Street Festival — Festivities kick off May 3 with a free Rockin’ Country Style concert at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Riverwalk. Activities May 4 start at 8 a.m. with a 5K run. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m., arts and crafts vendors, food booths, live music, games and more fill downtown Columbus. Huguenot Society — The annual Mississippi Branch meeting and luncheon of the Huguenot Society Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia begins at 11 a.m. at the Stephen D. Historic marker — The dedication of a historic marker, and an area landscaped by Galaxy Garden Club, at Sandfield Cemetery at the east end of College Street in Columbus begins at 5:30 p.m. An Eight O’ May Celebration presented by MSMS starts at 6 p.m. Free.
Friday, May 10
ACS Drawdown — Annunciation Catholic School presents its annual $10,000 Drawdown at 7 p.m. at Trotter Convention Center. Tickets are $100, admitting two adults to an early bird dinner, open bar, live music and raffles. Must be 21 or older.
King Cotton Crawfish Boil — Head to Starkville’s Cotton District for crawfish, fixings and live music from 6-9 p.m. Advance $20 tickets include food and unlimited beer and beverages. Get them at kingcottoncrawfishboil.com.

Farmers Market Grand Opening — The Hitching Lot Farmers Market season grand opening is 7-10 a.m. at the corner of Second Avenue and Second Street North.
