Breast cancer ranks second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women. With this in mind, Zumba enthusiasts across the nation are making a move to support breast cancer awareness. Join the “Party In Pink” movement, supporting Susan G. Komen For The Cure in the fight to end breast cancer Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9-11 a.m.
The Zumbathon will be at the downtown Y on Second Avenue North in Columbus. A donation for the Zumbathon is $15, but any donation will be accepted and forwarded to Susan G. Komen For The Cure. Be sure to wear pink.
Zumba fuses Latin rhythms with easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program. Led by a Zumba team from Memphis and Y Zumba instructors, participants will “take to the street for two hours of Zumba, with raffle prize giveaways,” says Barbara Bigelow of the Frank Phillips Y. “Zumba is all about the music, the dancing and having fun. A good Zumba workout can burn 500-1000 calories per hour.”
For additional information, please contact the downtown Y at 662-328-7696.
