The Magnolia Independent Film Festival and the Starkville Area Arts Council have announced a month-long matching grant campaign. The SAAC will match the first $1,000 in individual donations made to The Mag before Dec. 31.
“SAAC is super excited to award a matching grant as a way to support The Mag’s recent growth, particularly its decision to hire a part-time director,” said SAAC Executive Director John Bateman. “We hope this grant helps it bring in new donors, particularly those who love independent film. The MAG is the oldest film festival in Mississippi and SAAC wants it to remain an important part of our cultural scene for years to come.”
Individuals who wish to participate in the matching grant campaign can visit bit.ly/TheMagDonation to make an online donation through PayPal. Donors can also mail checks payable to The Magnolia Independent Film Festival to P.O. Box 806, Starkville, MS 39759.
“We are incredibly honored that SAAC has provided The Mag with this opportunity at such an unprecedented time,” said Bailey Berry, The Mag’s newest festival director. “The Mag is dedicated to fostering the film industry in Mississippi, and we are pleased to know that we can find support in our efforts in both individual donors and the SAAC.”
The Magnolia Independent Film Festival is planning its 24th season of the festival, which is set for Feb. 25-27. While COVID-19 has altered its plans, The Mag is working hard to provide a safe and quality event for filmmakers, film lovers and the Golden Triangle community. More information regarding the festival will be provided at a later date.
