On Tuesday, March 1, Chicago”s legendary sketch comedy ensemble, The Second City, will appear at Trotter Convention Center, 402 Second Ave. N., Columbus at 7 p.m with “Fair & Unbalanced.” This special performance will feature some of the best sketches, songs and improvisations from the troupe”s 50-year history.
The Second City is truly a Chicago landmark and a national treasure.
“Fair & Unbalanced” takes unbridled comic pleasure in the foibles of our politicians, celebrities and even our significant others. No institution escapes the satiric eye of The Second City — from the blowhards of the Beltway to the Hollywood elite. Ripped from the stages of Second City”s legendary theaters in Chicago and Toronto, Canada, the show promises to be a hilarious ride through present-day America.
The Second City celebrates 50 years of cutting-edge satiric revues and continues to deliver the leading voices in comedy while touring the globe. With scripted and improvisational elements, audiences always enjoy being part of the show and playing along with the next generation of comic legends.
Their alumni list reads like a who”s who of American comedy and includes Mike Nichols, Alan Arkin, Peter Boyle, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey and countless others.
Tickets for Second City”s “Fair & Unbalanced” show are $25 for general admission and $50 for a VIP ticket, available at The Rosenzweig Arts Center located at 501 Main St. in downtown Columbus.
