Ashley Nicole Gilbert and Clifton Lucas Ivy of Starkville were married June 21, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Starkville, with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Claude Allen Gilbert of Senatobia and the late Darlene Hudson Gilbert. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Hudson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gilbert, all of Cleveland. She was given in marriage by her cousin, Joseph Keith Wheeler of Hernando. The bride wore an ivory lace fit and flare gown featuring a bodice enhanced with handcrafted Diamante beading. Scalloped lace accented the neckline and plunging back as well as her chapel-length train and fingertip-length veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, roses and peonies. Megan Elizabeth Purser of Omaha, Nebraska, served as matron of honor. Angela Raelynn deBlois of San Antonio served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jordan Elizabeth Turner of Starkville, cousin of the bride, and Ashley Ivy Benjamin of Tupelo, sister of the groom. Honorary bridesmaids were Dorothy Eva Abrams of Madison, Rachel Whitney Anderson of Brandon and Heather Harbor Beacom of Madisonville, Louisiana. Attendants wore long flowing, strapless charcoal gray chiffon dresses with sweetheart necklines, pleated bodices and dove gray satin belts with crystal beaded embellishments. They carried bouquets of hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, roses and peonies. Flower girls were Ivy Katherine Benjamin of Tupelo, and Maggie Ruth Benjamin of Tupelo, nieces of the groom. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Ivy of Starkville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Tom DeWeese, the late Bettie DeWeese and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ivy Jr., all of Starkville. The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Henry Johnson Benjamin of Tupelo, brother-in-law of the groom, John Barwick Guyton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Spencer Neal Brunson of Clinton. Johnson Baker Benjamin of Tupelo, nephew of groom, served as ring bearer. Following a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Starkville, where the groom is a teacher and coach at Starkville Academy and the bride is a speech-language pathologist with the Starkville School District.
