Ashley Macaulay Knight of Franklinton, La., and Robert McGahey Whitaker of Columbus were married April 25, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Columbus with the Rev. James Floyd Carlyle officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. David William Bertrand of Hammond, La., and Mr. Russell Scott Knight of Franklinton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Paul Robicheaux, and Mr. and Mrs. James Wayne Knight. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a Watters and watters design of ivory silk taffeta. The deep-V neckline and fully draped bodice fell into a trumpet skirt with a chapel train. The veil was cathedral length illusion tulle. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of vendela roses and gardenias adorned with her mother's rosary and an antique broach belonging to her great-great-great-grandmother. Ashley Elizabeth Gatewood of DeRidder, La., served as matron of honor. Anna Meyerchick Petitto of Franklinton, Annalee Rice Patrick of Laurel, Haley Nicole Capello of Donaldsonville, La., Evans Whitaker Dawson and Dorothy Allison Whitaker, both of Columbus, Julia Graham Starrett and Paige McBrayer Wamble, both of Hattiesburg, and Linda Duck Wamble of Madison, all served as bridesmaids. Ellen Allison Dawson of Columbus served as flower girl. Margaret Elizabeth Pinkney McGahey of Memphis, Tenn., and Emily Michelle Bertrand of Hammond, La., served as attendants. Attendants wore knee-length dress of gold silk shantung by Siri, each wearing an individually selected style. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Evans Whitaker of Columbus. He is the grandson of Mrs. Thomas Arthur McGahey Jr. and the late Mr. McGahey, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vernon Whitaker and the late Mr. Milton George Englert. The groom's father, Mr. Thomas Evans Whitaker, served as best man. William Eric Dawson and Thomas Arthur McGahey IV, both of Columbus, Daniel Ryan Killingsworth of Ridgeland, Russell Scott Knight II of Monroe, La., George Bailey Menetre of Tupelo, James Edward Wamble III and Whittle Roberts Starrett, both of Hattiesburg, and Andrew Wayne Wamble of Madison, served as groomsmen. The couple resides in Columbus where the groom is an accountant with T.E. Lott and Co. and the bride is assistant director of alumni relations at Mississippi State University.
