Renovations are complete of the front office of The Dispatch”s downtown Columbus office, designed to improve customer service.
A wall, dividing the building into two halves, was torn down to make a large front room. Advertising and Classified staffs were moved into the space, joining circulation and front desk staff. Visitors will now be able to access Advertising and Classified staff more easily. New carpet, paint and offices spruce up the room.
The original pressed tin ceiling and period lighting were preserved in the 1500-square-foot space.
Work was coordinated by Dispatch Operations Manager Peter Imes.
“We”re thrilled with the way the renovation turned out. In addition to creating a more efficient and vibrant front office, the space just looks great,” said Imes of the improvements.
General contractor on the project was Jim Buck Vaughn. Doug Hutcherson of Advanced Electric oversaw the electrical work and Wayne Doyle of Industrial Fire Protection installed the sprinkler systems; John Lancaster did the HVAC work; and painting was done by Darren Hall Painting. Johnson Carpet handled the flooring.
Imes says he plans to rent the space formerly occupied by the Advertising Department to a tenant that will complement the selection of downtown businesses.
