A woman and her car wound up in 10 feet of water Saturday morning after she lost control of the vehicle.
The driver was reported by the Starkville Daily News as Melissa Smith. Fire officials say Smith lost control of her vehicle Saturday shortly after 6 a.m. while driving on Oktoc Road and entered the pond. She was rescued immediately by a family member who was nearby in another vehicle and a “nearby neighbor.”
Smith was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center. The Oktoc/ District 5 Fire Department responded and helped fish the car from the water with additional help from diver and Starkville firefighter Jason Edwards.
