A 44-year-old man who allegedly chased a woman from her home last year with a sword was arrested again last week, this time for grand larceny and credit card fraud from his mother.
O”Dell Stevenson Carter Jr., of 114 Gaylane Drive, was arrested March 10 at 1917 Main St. and was charged with intent to defraud with a credit card and grand larceny of more than $500.
He ran up his mother”s credit card by $657 and stole her two 14-karat gold diamond rings, according to police reports.
Carter has a long list of previous crimes, but was last arrested in October, when he allegedly broke into a house in the 800 block of Alabama Street to steal a female acquaintance”s medication.
In that case, he was charged with burglary and kidnapping after he allegedly kicked in her back door and her bedroom door, then grabbed a sword off of a gun rack and chased her out of the house.
It is not thought that a sword was used in the latest alleged crime, said police Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
“Not this time,” she said.
