The Columbus-Lowndes Metro Narcotics Unit and the city SWAT team busted a large drug distribution ring Tuesday, arresting five people and seizing $36,100 worth of drugs.
The raids, at 1115 Third Ave. N. Apt. 1 and 116 Dan Buddy Road, followed a two-month investigation into the alleged ring of drug dealers, most of whom were arrested Tuesday, said Columbus-Lowndes MNU Commander Joey Brackin.
The arrests of the other alleged ring members are pending, he added.
At the Third Avenue location, officers arrested the 34-year-old resident, Adam C. Owens, who was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of a weapon, a .38 special revolver, by a convicted felon. They also found 2.25 ounces of cocaine and $780 in cash.
At the Dan Buddy Road location, officers arrested residents Cedric L. Calmes, 31, and Daphne R. Calmes, 33, as well as 36-year-old Romalro Guyton, of 634 31st Ave. N., and 30-year-old Juwaun L. Deloach, of Flint, Mich.
They were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana more than an ounce with intent to distribute. Cedric Calmes was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Officers also found 7 ounces of cocaine, 1.7 pounds of marijuana, a Smith and Wesson .45-caliber handgun, and $9,743 in cash.
