The 81-year-old man accused of critically wounding a man during a party Sunday is out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
Meanwhile, his alleged victim, Johnny Wells, remains at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in critical condition.
Joseph Griffin, of 606 Kidd Road Lot 2 in Lowndes County, allegedly shot Wells, who is in his 70s, in the chest-ribcage area while they were with a half-dozen friends at a Henry Lane residence in the Anderson Grove area at about 6 p.m. Griffin is charged with aggravated assault.
The two apparently had an alcohol-fueled argument, which led to the shooting, said Lowndes County Sheriff”s Detective Ryan Rickert. The incident is still under investigation.

Columbus Police Department
· Kendell Haynes, 40, of 11 Elk Circle in Aberdeen, was transferred March 30 from Aberdeen to Columbus. He was charged with shoplifting, third offense or more than $250. His bond was set at $15,000.
· Shaene Rochelle Everett, 26, of 526 Pullen Lake Road Apt. 5 in Aberdeen, was transferred March 30 from Aberdeen to Columbus. She was charged with shoplifting, third offense or more than $250. Her bond was set at $5,000.
Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office
· Michael Murphy, 37, of 803 Hall Road in Macon, was arrested Tuesday in Brooksville. He was charged with fondling a juvenile victim in 2004, deputies said.
· Fredrick James Moody, 40, of 123 Ellis St. in Artesia, was arrested Friday at 400 Concourse Road. He was charged with aggravated assault while manifesting extreme indifference to life for backing his vehicle into his girlfriend”s occupied car. His bond was set at $20,000.
· Grover Stanley Hudson, 46, of 1258 Dickerson Road in Steens, was arrested Sunday on Vaughn Robertson Road. He was charged with two misdemeanors, of possession of marijuana and public drunkenness. His total bond was set at $770.
