Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Joe Frank Sanderson Center are partnering to fight cancer and calories.
Members of Pi Kappa Alpha will be on the drill field today between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. selling tickets to spin classes at the Sanderson for $10 each. The promotion is part of Taylor Trudeau Cycle for Life, a nationwide event aimed at raising money for cancer research.
Taylor Trudeau was a Pi Kappa Alpha member from New Hampshire who succumbed to Leukemia in 2008. His fraternity brothers organized Cycle for Life to honor his memory while fighting the disease which claimed his life.
The Mississippi State University chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha has also been selling raffle tickets to local restaurants for the past week to raise additional funds for Cycle for Life. Local Culture, Mugshots, The Grill, Utopia and Harvey”s have all participated.
The spin classes will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the Sanderson between the hours of 7 p.m. -11 p.m. Slater Smith, who is leading the fundraiser for MSU”s chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha, said a total of 224 seats are available. The Sanderson Center”s spin instructors will lead the classes.
Spinning is a high-intensity workout using a stationary bike. Instructors lead participants through a routine of varying pace and effort.
Pi Kappa Alpha will have a table set up between the Colvard Student Union and McCool Hall today. Anyone unable to visit the table can call Smith at 415-6196 to register.
