A 26-year-old Zachary”s waitress was shot in the left eye with a BB gun Sunday when she helped someone on her way home from work.
Courtney Fletcher and a co-worker, Summer Stovall, were on their way home at about 3 a.m. Sunday when they stopped in the 500 block of Fifth Street South to help two men with car trouble, they said.
After jumping the car off, one of the men pulled a bb gun, prompting Fletcher to pull out her Taser and shock one of the men, said Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
Fletcher was then shot in the eye and two more times in the body, although neither of those shots broke her skin, Songer said. As the women returned to their car, one of the men kept firing the BB gun, shattering the front and back windows.
The men fled the scene in their black car, Songer said. The victims could not supply a description of the men or the vehicle.
Fletcher was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle by Stovall, then to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she was treated and released Monday.
If arrested, the suspects would face armed robbery and aggravated assault charges.
Anyone with information about the incident should make an anonymous call to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-8151. A tip that leads to an arrest could be worth up to $1,000.
