Mugshots Grill and Bar”s hard liquor license has been suspended through June 20.
The Office of Alcohol Beverage Control, a division of the State Tax Commission, suspended Mugshots” license May 30 following an investigation which resulted in two counts of selling liquor to minors.
Kathy Waterbury, communications director for the State Tax Commission, confirmed the suspension and explained Mugshots can still serve wine and beer. Waterbury did not say if the investigation into Mugshots was tied to the Feb. 19 death of Mississippi State University student Matthew Johnson as reported by WCBI-TV.
Johnson, 20, of Olive Branch, drove his 2004 Honda Accord through a wooden fence on Locksley Way the night of Feb. 19, causing a wooden plank to break through the driver”s side window and strike Johnson in the head, causing immediate death.
As of Wednesday, no lawsuits had been filed against Mugshots in Oktibbeha or Forrest County, where Mugshots is based, in relation to Johnson”s death.
