A two-week investigation has landed a Starkville man in jail charged with child pornography.
Daniel J. Roberts, 25, of 500 Mallory Lane, Apt. 25L, was arrested July 1 at 5:34 p.m. by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff”s Office and charged with possession of child pornography and one count of possession of paraphernalia after deputies searched his residence and computer.
Sheriff”s deputies arrested Roberts following a two-week investigation into the dissemination of child pornography in the area. He is being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
No additional details were available at press time.
Deputies at the OCSO recently received training from the Mississippi Attorney General”s office and have begun operations as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
ICAC investigators also made an arrest Thursday in Monroe County with the help of the county sheriff”s deputies.
In an unrelated case, Roger Wiggington, 67, of Amory, was charged Thursday with five counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison per count.
In a statement released later that day, Attorney General Jim Hood said investigators statewide are “hard on the trail of those believed to be downloading child porn in Mississippi.”
