The Oktibbeha County Sheriff”s Office is investigating the death of a woman after her body was discovered Sunday.
Four individuals riding four-wheelers found the female”s body in the area of County Lake Road, north of Harrell Road in a wooded area near TVA electrical lines.
According to an OCSO press release, the body had been there “for some time.”
Oktibbeha County Sheriff Dolph Bryan said the condition of the body made it difficult to determine if there were any signs of trauma.
“If there was any signs we wouldn”t have been able to see it,” he said. “It”s been over 100 degrees for several days.”
Bryan said the OCSO hasn”t had a missing-person report filed lately.
Investigators from the OCSO and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are working the case.
The body hasn”t been positively identified, although a preliminary identification has been made. Investigators are awaiting the results on an autopsy and positive identification before releasing further details.
“It”s gonna be between seven and 10 days before we know anything,” Bryan said.
