An Oktibbeha County man fought with Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies and was jailed on nine charges after a traffic stop for a b usted tail light on Sept. 28.
James Keith, 48, of 2159 Buckner Road, was charged with possession of marijuana, more than 30 grams, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, disorderly conduct, assault on an officer, resisting arrest, no insurance, improper equipment and possession of paraphernalia.
“For somebody to have this much different stuff, it is uncommon,” Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy George Carrithers said. “We probably won’t know what everything weighs until it comes back from the crime lab.”
Keith posted a $42,251 bond but faces additional charges from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. A message left at the MBN was not returned Wednesday afternoon.
Carrithers said the arresting officer was not harmed in the scuffle.
According to an OCSO jail report, the following people also were arrested between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1:
- Levar Lanier, 33, was arrested Sept. 27 by the OCSO on charges of DUI second offense, careless driving and driving with a suspended license.
- Laban Gunn, 19, was arrested Sept. 30 by the Mississippi State University Police Department on a charge of burglary of a dwelling.
- Samuel Tenny, 19, was arrested Sept. 29 by the OCSO on a charge of possession of marijuana, greater than 30 grams.
