A wreck involving a white pickup truck and a commercial truck with a mounted crane sent both drivers to the hospital this morning.
The wreck happened about 5:30 a.m. on Highway 45 North near the Cal Kolola Road intersection in front of the Chevron gas station. Information on the two drivers and how the collision occurred was unknown as of press time. However, the commercial truck had a McCrary Schwing decal on its crane. McCrary Construction Services is based in Columbus and Tupelo.
Both were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with unknown injuries, and there were no fatalities from the incident, responders at the scene said.
Gasoline was leaking from one of the vehicles, and Hazmat units were called to the scene.
Responders from the Mississippi Department of Transportation, Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Lowndes County Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene.
