Columbus police arrested one of the two men suspected in connection with a November house burglary. The burglary was caught on surveillance video.
Corey Smart, 24, of 1839 Plum Grove Road in Columbus, was arrested this morning in Macon. He is one of the two men police are investigating in connection with a break-in at 706 Eighth St. S. on Nov. 23 between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and midnight.
The incident was caught on video in one of the bedrooms. The video shows two black males, one with a handgun, repeatedly entering and leaving the bedroom while going through clothes and other belongings.
Police said a Crime Stoppers tip came in about Smart’s whereabouts and he was taken into custody by Macon police at the home of a relative or friend. Columbus police then charged him. Police are looking into whether Smart is connected to other crimes.
According to police, Tavarous Mason, 28, of 416 John Colbert Road in Macon, is also a suspect in the burglary. Police are still searching for Mason.
