NESHOBA — Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell says a Neshoba man and his 4-year-old grandson remain hospitalized after a fire that killed three younger grandchildren, but the dead children’s father is out of the hospital.
Waddell says 25-year-old Josh Tubby was released Sunday after treatment for burns and cuts suffered when he tried to rescue his three children from the blaze that destroyed their house early Sunday.
Waddell said Monday that the fire apparently started in the kitchen, but investigators don’t know how it started.
The fire killed 3-month-old Neldavinna Tubby, 1-year-old Omarion Tubby and 2-year-old Sharron Tubby.
Waddell says their cousin, Orex Wickson, is in a Georgia burn unit and their grandfather, Tommy Wickson, is still in a local hospital.
Firefighters said the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
