A two-vehicle crash near Crawford Saturday afternoon sent three people to the hospital and left watermelon pieces strewn across the road.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m. at Highway 45 Alternate and Tarlton Road, just east of Crawford in southwestern Lowndes County. A white Chevrolet pickup truck struck the passenger side door of a red Nissan Titan pickup. Two males and a female in the crash were transported to undisclosed hospitals, according to reports on the Lowndes County E-911 scanner.
Calls to the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office for additional information Saturday afternoon went unanswered.
After the crash, watermelon pieces were splattered about the highway and wreckage from the two vehicles sat mangled in the road. Emergency workers guided traffic slowly through the scene.
