A West Point man who authorities say was growing marijuana behind his house was arrested Tuesday on drug and weapons charges.
Ronald E. Horne 60, was arrested after the Clay County Sheriff”s Department executed a search warrant at 2637 Lone Oak Drive, according to a sheriff”s release. The department “had received information that Horne was growing marijuana behind his residence,” the release said.
“Deputies seized one four foot marijuana plant and other processed marijuana during the search, as well as a loaded firearm,” the release said.
Horne was arrested for manufacture of marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Horne”s bond was set at $20,500 by Justice Court Judge Joe Taggart. Horne”s preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 3.
Also arrested was Hosea M. “Mel” Holcombe 56, for the charge of possession of marijuana less than one ounce, a misdemeanor. Holcombe was released on personal bond later that day.
The Sheriff”s department was assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics during the investigation.
