JACKSON — Gov. Phil Bryant is creating a five-member task force to review contracts at the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Bryant set up the task force in an executive order issued Friday and appointed Andy Taggart and Robert Gibbs as its co-chairmen. Bryant’s office said three other members will be added later.
“I want to ensure all current vendor contracts with MDOC meet the criteria set forth by Mississippi procurement law and are in the best interest of the Mississippi taxpayers,” Bryant said in a statement.
Taggart, a Madison lawyer, is a former chief of staff to Gov. Kirk Fordice and former executive director of the state Republican Party. Gibbs is a former Hinds County circuit judge.
