Investigators with the Columbus Police Department are looking for a rape suspect.
Authorities say that at about 7 a.m. Saturday, they responded to a Fourth Avenue South home. A female victim there told officers a man broke into the residence and sexually assaulted her, according to Raymond Hackler, a CPD investigator.
The woman described her assailant as a “black male with a medium build and about five foot, five inches” tall, according to a CPD release.
A Sunday morning alert issued by Mississippi University for Women indicated the incident occurred approximately one block from the school’s campus.
The case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call CPD at 662-244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 662-494-0109.
