There is a new watering hole in Columbus.
Tee’s Sports Bar & Grill opened Sept. 1 at Elm Lake Golf Course. It is open to the public.
The grill’s menu looks fun. Burgers are a specialty. Each one is served on a sourdough bun. There is the Elm Lake Burger (comes with a fried egg); the Cowboy Burger (barbecue sauce, jalapeno peppers, bacon, cheese, onion ring); the Nutty Professor (peanut butter swiped across each bun, topped with bacon); and others. There are five hot dog options. There are chicken dishes. The chicken salad is made in house.
At the bar are domestic and craft beers. Also: six televisions. On Sundays, guests can watch every NFL game. On Saturdays, guests can watch every SEC game.
Tee’s Sports Bar & Grill is located at 1609 Taylor Thurston Road, inside the golf course’s pro shop. The grill is open 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. The bar is open until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. It is open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The bar also opens at 5 p.m. on Mondays for Monday Night Football.
It can hold 77 people.
The bar and grill, which is owned by Jonathan Thomas and Milton Thomas, employs seven people.
Moving on.
Strange Brew Coffeehouse is opening a second location in Tupelo.
The announcement that another location was coming appeared on the popular Starkville coffeehouse’s social media accounts Tuesday, which was National Coffee Day. The fact that it was opening in Tupelo was not revealed until Wednesday.
In between, social media chatter — which should always be mainly viewed as entertainment — ran rampant. Some people hoped the second location would open in Columbus. Some hoped Jackson. Or Memphis. Or Hattiesburg. Or Tuscaloosa. Or in Utah or California. The point is: Strange Brew, which Shane Reed opened a decade ago on Highway 12 in Starkville, has a loyal following.
The new Tupelo location will be located at the corner of West Jefferson and Gloster streets. It is slated to open in January.
The Golden Triangle Employment Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at American Legion Post #69 on Chubby Drive in Columbus.
The event is free and open to the public. More than 50 employers and 1,000 job seekers attended last year’s expo.
To view a list of employers and positions being offered Wednesday go to jobfairs.ms.gov.
