The Columbus Police Department has extended its Toy Drive application process through Tuesday.
Rhonda Sanders, community relations officer, said CPD has partnered with Columbus Municipal School District to host the drive this year. This is the second year that CMSD and CPD have partnered for the drive, Sanders said.
Those wishing to apply to receive donations from the Toy Drive can fill out an application at CPD headquarters between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., from today through Tuesday. Applicants must live in the Columbus city limits and bring proof of residency, a Social Security Card and a birth certificate or some other document proving they are legal guardians of their children.
The gifts will be delivered on Dec. 17.
Those wishing to donate to the Toy Drive can drop off an unwrapped toy at any Bank First or Cadence Bank in town. Toys can also be donated at the CPD lobby. Students within CMSD can also bring toys to donate to school.
CPD will also partner with Columbus Fire & Rescue on Thanksgiving to feed approximately 1,400 elderly and disabled citizens in Columbus for the annual Turkey Drive. To give CPD the name of an elderly or disabled person to feed, contact the police department.
