West Point Fire Department officials continue investigating the cause of a Monday night fire at Wal-Mart that left damage, but no injuries.
West Point Fire Department Battalion Chief Ken Wilburne said his department responded to a call at about 8:30 Monday night to a fire at the business, which is located on Highway 45 South.
“The fire was in the area where they sell pet supplies. There is smoke damage throughout the area, but the rest is minimal at best,” he said.
Wilburne said at least eight firefighters, including two who were off duty, were able to contain the blaze within 10 minutes. The store was evacuated when firefighters arrived.
“The manager and other store workers took care of evacuating the building,” he said.
Wilburne said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
